So I’m going to give this recipe a shot. Looks easy enough and sounds like my kind of cookie. I do have a question, can you use any kind of extract flavor? I like the Almond extract and cream of tarter flavors in my cookies. Just looking for something easy and different. Thanks!

In reply to Heather F. Heather, the parchment is to assist in lifting the dessert out of the pan before you slice them into separate servings. Of course, I double it would work as well if you doubled the recipe and put them in a 9 X 13-inch pan. I hope everyone still enjoyed them despite the mess.

Delicious, but forget the parchment on the bottom! Could NOT get a piece out of the pan without making a mess!

The cake is deliciously moist and tender. I baked it in an 8”x8” square pan at 350° as per recipe however after 35 minutes it still needed a lot more baking so I left it in the oven another 20 minutes in which I then turned it up to 375° to bake another 10 minutes. Next time I will bake it at 375° and see how long it takes to bake. I also decided to make a glaze with lemon zest and juice which gave it a nice kick of lemon without it being too strong. Great recipe. I will definitely make it again.

This was delicious rolled mine in a mixture of the crackers chopped celery leaves and finely crumbled blue cheese served with carrots celery am chicken in basket crackers

Bake the bars about 10 more minutes. High altitude makes a difference.
